I Left my Car in San Francisco RIP Tony Bennett July 21 2023 Very sadly Tony Bennett died today, as I told the story many times when I met Tony, I said "Hi Tony, my name is Jon Hammond - I'm from San Francisco!" So right away he paid attention on me, and I told him, "Tony, I left my CAR in San Francisco" he said, oh man I never heard that one before! He was a beautiful cat - you can see some photos when we joined him at the NEA Jazz Masters gathering at the Sheraton Hotel in NYC - and my friend Bobbi Sacks Marcus DeSouza is getting Tony's attention for a photo opp at a special ASCAP event honoring Quincy Jones a few years ago - that's my Hammond Report for today folks, remembering the great Tony Bennett! Hammond Report November 29 2021 From Pandemic Quarantino Jon Hammond - Daily Music and Stories from Jon Hammond the organ player & accordionist - today's music story is about the great concert I saw last night on CBS - Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga were so great - and 40 piece orchestra of Local 802 AFM top players, drummers Harold Jones and Donald Barrett were killin' it, what a show! I met Tony Bennett a few years ago and I told him, "Tony, I left my car in San Francisco!" He said he never heard that one before and was laughing, beautiful cat - I'm playing his big hit on my Hammond Sk PRO organ streaming here - have a beautiful Monday everybody, I'll be back tomorrow - Jon Hammond
