Hammond Report December 19 2021 From Pandemic Quarantino Jon Hammond - Daily Music and Stories from Jon Hammond the organ player & accordionist, today's music story is about playing world's first midi controlling of Hammond organ with a Hohner Morino IV midi accordion in the Jazzkeller Frankfurt 30 years ago! Herb Ellis was sitting in the front table, I invited him - I had sponsorship from Philip Morris tobacco Military Division, special thanks Rick Wilhelm for picking up the tab for Barry's air fare, Barry Finnerty guitar, Uwe Gehring 2nd guitar, Alain Nau drums, Derrick James alto and yours truly Jon Hammond at the organ and accordion - Joe Berger mixed the show from under the piano of the smoke-filled club, beautiful mix with all Sennheiser microphones on loan to us, dankeschön Norbert Hilbich! This one goes out to Michael Falkenstein and the Maier Family, sadly Michael's Mom Heidi passed away early this morning - keep the Spirit in Setzingen Michael, Jennifer Schiele, Leslie, Ida, Martina and all Maier Family & Friends! Hammond Report July 8 2020 From Pandemic Quarantino Jon Hammond - Music and Stories from organist accordionist Jon Hammond, Midi Accordion with Hammond organ in Jazzkellerhistoric session today. The famous ad for organ never released came out that day about a so called Hohner Hammond XB-2 - Hohner approached me to play their branded version of the new organ at my Musikmesse party gig. I told them, the Hammond people didn't clear this, but what I can do is take one of your top of the line Midi accordions Morino IV and I midi'd my Hammond XB-2 for this special gig which was recorded and engineered by Joe Berger with a lot of beautiful Sennheiser microphones on loan to us. The late great Herb Ellis came by my invitation (they didn't know who he was at the door!) Yes he was my guest, and he sat right in the front row staring at the musicians, making the string section somewhat nervous!
