Wonderful live recording of Hammond Organ w/drums. This classic organ club format was at its zenith in the 50's, 60's and 70's ...."Live at Bernie's" captures this unique feel and sound, with the internationally recognized hands of Jon Hammond and Michael Jordan providing expert renditions of many classic favorites. This crystal clear live recording sounds like you have an Organ Lounge in your living room! The performances are excellent and Jon displays his great experience and demonstrates the capabilities of the Digital New B3. The natural live feel is very refreshing.
This new release from Jon Hammond marks his move into mainstream jazz. Utilizing the famous NDR Orchestra and Studios in Hamburg, Germany, Jon has crafted an excellent organ jazz record utilizing drums, sax and trombone. Outstanding support from saxophone soloist Lutz Buchner adds a lyrical modern jazz sound to the recordings. Excellent drumming by Heinz Lichius and the soulful sound of Joe Gallardo on trombone round out the disc. Great classic tunes are covered, along with some originals, including "My One and Only Love," "Skylark," "Besame Mucho," "Blues In The Night" and "No X-Cess Baggage Blues."

Tech Talk from Jon Hammond Using Vintage Fender Amplifiers Live XK-1 and XK-3 Series Organ
Organist Accordionist Jon Hammond says: "I have been using stock 1965 Fender vintage Band-Master piggyback amps and 1965 Fender Twin Reverb amp with factory JBL speaker option to power my XK-1 and XK-3 organs, also XB-2 prior to that. You can't beat that combination on the band stand as a portable solution to the classic B3 Leslie combo (I own 2 B3's, a 1965 and 1959 models with stock 122 and Bill Beer custom high-power Keyboard Products Leslie in flight cases) this sound has served me well for many years. I started playing professional gigs with a blonde 1964 Fender Band-Master I scored from Leo at Leo's Music in Oakland CA with my electric Giulietti accordion. These amps are well suited to either accordion or Hammond organ by nature. In 1987 I had the good fortune to meet Leo Fender on the way back to USA from the Frankfurt Musikmesse, we had a lengthy discussion in Frankfurt Airport on this topic. Nobody has come up with a better more comfortable sound solution for my own taste yet, and the Hammond Suzuki engineers have done a wonderful job at recreating the sound and feel of the real deal Hammond organs with the XK series, and I still use my XB-2 organs on occasion also."
